Definition: Olericulture is the science of growing vegetables.
Classifications of Vegetable Farming:
- Kitchen or Nutrition Gardening:
- Growing vegetables on a small scale at households.
- Examples: Beans, Cabbage, Lady's Finger, Tomato, Brinjal, Carrot, Spinach, etc.
- Commercial Gardening:
- Production of vegetables on a large scale to be sold in markets.
- Vegetable Forcing:
- Growing vegetables in buildings, greenhouses, cold farms, or under other artificial growing conditions.
- Most intensive type of vegetable growing.
- Examples: Cabbage, Tomato, Brinjal, etc.
